After opening the unit, I closed the open circuit before turning it on. I also opened the top cover of the motor to check if it was jammed; the motor was not jammed. I connected the unit to the water supply at the sink, and it began leaking water. The check valve (non-return valve) was broken, and part of it was stuck in the adapter that connects the unit to the copper tube. I removed the broken fitting and replaced it. Retested the unit and found it to be fully functional with good cosmetic condition.
